Child Protection Policy
These guidelines are aimed at LKRC representatives / officials. However, they should also be adhered to by all people who attend the circuit.
Lincolnshire Kart Racing Club (LKRC) has a duty of care to safeguard all children whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and / or sexual identity, who are involved in LKRC. All children have the right to protection from abuse / harm and the needs of disabled children and others who may be particularly vulnerable must be taken in to account.
LKRC will ensure the safety and protection of all children involved in LKRC through adherence to
the Child Protection Guidelines adopted by LKRC / MSA.
The child's welfare is paramount.
All children whatever their, age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief
and / or sexual identity, have the right to protection from abuse/harm.
All suspicions and allegations of inappropriate behaviour will be taken seriously and responded to
swiftly and appropriately.
As defined in the Childrens’ Act 1989, anyone under the age of 18 years should be considered as
a child for the purposes of this document.
Respect the dignity and spirit of all drivers/marshals including children and young adults.
Treat all drivers / marshals / officials / children / young persons fairly.
Establish supportive, positive environments to encourage healthy competition, skill development,
fun and achievement.
Avoid contact or conduct that may be interpreted as having sexual connotations or which the guidelines defines as inappropriate.
Do not take part in or tolerate behaviour that frightens, embarrasses or demoralizes a driver / marshal / children / young persons / officials or that negatively affects their self-esteem.
Do not tolerate acts of aggression.
Work towards eliminating harassment / abuse / harm from Motor Sport environments.
Be prepared to be eyes and ears if you suspected a child or young person under 18 is been abused / harmed.
Practice fair play both during and outside of all Motor Sport activities 'Fair Play' is defined as showing considerate regard for drivers, staff, volunteers, parents spectators, and officials abiding by the rules of Motor Sport and abiding by officials decisions.
Officials and organisers are in a position of trust and influence with children / young people.
lf a child tries to talk to you about something that is worrying them, it is important that you listen to them and respond sensitively, not on your own. Inform the Child Protection Officer
(Mandy Moore) and if you have serious concerns about the immediate safety of a child contact the Police or Social Services. Record the name of the person you spoke to and report all what
you have done.
It is NOT our responsibility to decide if a child is being abused / harmed,
your role is to act on the concerns you may have and follow the Good Practice Guidelines, which are outlined by the LKRC / MSA (found in the main policy which is in Race Control).
In line with recommendation in the Lincolnshire Kart Racing Club / MSA Child Protection Policy, that we the promoters of the event request that any person wishing to engage in any video, zoom or close range photography should register their details with Mrs Danielle Short at Race Control before carrying out any such photography. The Lincolnshire Kart Racing Club reserves the right of entry to this event and reserves the right to decline entry to any person unable to meet or abide by the L.K.R.C conditions.
If you are concerned about any photography taking place at an event/race meeting, contact Race Control to discuss the matter. If appropriate the person about whom there are concerns
should be asked to leave the circuit and the LKRC Officials will be informed.
If, for some reason, the legal Parent / Guardian / Guarantor of the competitor
is unable attend the meeting, they can nominate a representative for the
event. However, they must complete a Parental Consent Authorisation
form, which must be handed to the Secretary of the meeting.
